Who are the Food Donors?

These donors are the real focus for food collection as they are filling our landfills with edible food due to no current means to sell or use the food. This may be due to constraints they are presented with like “sell by” dates or excess production with no channel for perishable food delivery to a usable end. This is where that story ends. Food rescue teams are organized to pick up food that would otherwise be taken off a shelf for sale and transport it to a community fridge where those in need can “shop” for today’s meal. These locations are open 24x 7 and offer good nourishing food to those who are hungry or homeless.

Perishable food has a limited life and this is where CB Fridges can help fill a community need through our volunteer organization who are willing to transport food provided by a generous donor to our community fridge locations throughout Council Bluffs for 24×7 access by the patrons of the fridges.
